Project One, Timber Spokeshave using Hock Tools Spokeshave Blade

 

  Step 1  
Prepare stock 300mm long x 25m x 36mm, European Beech or similar easily worked timber would be a good choice  
                           
  Step 2  
On the 36mm face place your HOCK spokeshave blade 10 mm from the edge and outline with fine pencil  
       
                           
                           
                   
                           
                           
                           
                           
                           
  Step 3  
Next rout this area x 3.4~3.6mm deep for a snug fit of your HOCK spoke shave blade  
 
 
                         
           
           
           
           
           
           
                           
                           
                           
 
  Step 4  
Next Rout / remove the material shown by 5mm deep  
 
 
                         
           
           
           
           
           
           
           
           
           
           
           
                           
  Step 5  
Drill the holes shown for the HOCK spokeshave blade stems x 5.0mm diameter at 100mm centres  
 
 
                         
           
  Step 6  
Fit blade for snug and comfortable fit (Not too tight as you will want to often remove the blade to adjust depth of cut)  
 
 
                         
                           
  Step 7  
Prepare a WEARING strip (Like Brass or Jarrah or similar hard stock (The length = blade width x 5mm.
On one edge bevel to 45 degrees as shown)
